Events & school visits
Want to book an inspirational author visit?
I visit schools, bookshops, libraries and festivals throughout the year to talk about my books and inspire children as readers and writers. My author events are entertaining, interactive and keep large audiences of hundreds of children enthralled.
The events I offer include:
An interactive BLACK HOLE CINEMA CLUB event where children take on the cinematic challenges of the Black Hole Cinema Club.
An interactive ESCAPE ROOM event where children explore the rooms of The Escape and try to solve the puzzles and challenges they find there.
An author talk about Escape Room, Black Hole Cinema Club, The Many Worlds of Albie Bright, The Jamie Drake Equation, The Infinite Lives of Maisie Day and The Longest Night of Charlie Noon. This event revolves around an interactive presentation about the books with quizzes, props, fun facts, arresting visuals, and even demonstrations of some of the real-life science behind the stories.
Creative writing workshops developing children’s skills as writers and storytellers. These workshops draw on my bestselling creative writing guides How to Write Your Best Story Ever! and How To Be A Young #Writer, helping children to beat their fear of the blank page and develop the writing skills required to create great stories. By the end of every workshop, all participants will have written the opening to their very own story. I have also led creative writing workshops for adults, aimed at aspiring children’s authors, and can provide INSET sessions to help teachers develop their skills as writing practitioners and recently appeared on the BBC 500 Words Live Lesson Extra to discuss the teaching of creative writing. You can watch this here.
I am also now offering a choice of virtual visits for schools, ranging from author talks and Q&As to creative writing sessions drawing on my bestselling creative writing guides, How To Write Your Best Story Ever! and How To Be A Young #Writer. All virtual vists can be tailored to your specific needs and delivered via the video conferencing option of your choice. You can find out more information about my virtual events here and please get in touch via the contact page if you'd like to discuss how a virtual visit could work for your school. Here are a few comments from teachers whose classrooms I've 'virtually visited' this year:
"Our children relished Christopher Edge’s virtual visit in which he shed light on the writing process and ideas behind his novels. Interactivity and humour kept engagement high and we were all particularly grateful for Christopher’s generosity with his time in answering questions." Mr Hudd, Belleville Primary School
"The children at Wix Academy thoroughly enjoyed their Zoom visit with Christopher Edge. His inspirational presentation made this a magical moment for our children. They were completely captivated by Christopher's words and were talking about it days after the event." Miss Hawes, Wix Academy
"In a time where stability and normality can sometimes seem a bit lost, Christopher Edge provided our students with just that. Christopher delivered a series of online creative writing workshops for our students and they still can't stop talking about how inspiration can be drawn from even the most unexpected of places. We highly recommend inviting Christopher onto your classroom screens." Mrs Macdonald, Head of English, Tower House School
For school visits - both virtual and in the real-world - I charge fees in line with the Society of Authors’ recommended rates and am a member of NAWE (National Association of Writers in Education) with public liability insurance. For more information or to book a school visit, please use the contact page.
I have appeared at numerous literary festivals including the Hay Festival, Edinburgh International Book Festival, Emirates Festival of Literature, Cheltenham Literature Festival and the Oxford Literary Festival, and have also given keynote speeches at events such as the NATE (National Association for the Teaching of English) conference and the Royal Institution. Visits to bookshops and festivals are organised through my publisher, and any upcoming events are shown below.

Our students, from Year 5 to Year 8, thoroughly enjoyed Christopher’s visit to our school, as did the teachers. He certainly gave them inspiration for their writing.
